Day 21 We suck without Him! *(See note at end about the word, "Suck" and my language)
Psalms 21, 51, 81, 111, 141 Proverbs 21
This is one of those days where everything I read in the bible applies to my current state or it really encourages me.
What keeps us from experiencing God more in our lives? What ushers in God’s work, Spirit and establishing of His kingdom on earth? One word – repentance. Repentance is the agreeing with God about our need, our sin and his righteousness. It is a brokenness of our pride, ego and ambitions. It is a submission to God and humble trust of Him. It is our soul saying, I can’t, I’m lost, I need Him more than anything else.
The worst thing is to need repentance and not know it, to walk around in prideful ignorance, to live our lives out without any pressing thought of the truth . . . the truth is, “We suck without Him”. Lord, I need you to form my heart, to break its pride and bring me to truth. I love Psalm 51 – its about total repentance. I love David’s honesty. When we sin, its really all about how we offend God. Our repentance starts with Him. We need His cleansing.
Psalm 81 – if you would only turn to me, I would give you everything you want. Isn’t this cool, all the things we seek are in Him. We avoid him because of our sin to try to get those things on our own. “TRUST HIM YOU DUMB SOUL.” – that is me talking to myself.
Psalm 111 – A great praise psalm, The Lord gives to those that fear him.
Psalm 141:2 May my prayer be like incense to you and my hands lifted up be like the sacrifice.
Proverbs 21 – “All a mans way seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.” “If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.”
21 He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity [c] and honor.
This proverbs is so amazing. It again gives us great principles for success in life, its about love, justice and righteousness. I don’t want to suck in life, I want to live fully for Him and others. I need you now Lord, change me.
If you are offended by the word "suck", stop reading and don't read my blog. I can't help myself but to translate my life into honest, real and modern language. Some refuse to translate God's message into real language used by the common person. That is their choice and I have no judgement for them. For me, I believe the church has erred in being too Victorian verses being more real. We have feminized our language and lost the men of our culture. They don't get the all soft and fuzzy christian lingo. Paul didn't do that and neither did God through Scriptures. Paul uses some quite profane words and concepts to get his point across. Paul uses the Greek word in Philippians, "scubala" which many biblical experts would agree is the most profane use of "crap" or "sh__". In a passage about the legalists Paul says, "may they be emasculated all the way" . . .in other words, may their private parts be chopped off.
Those are not feminine concepts or words. Paul is raw, real and sometimes inappropriate to some crowds.
I am not suggestion by any means that Christians should use profanity. I don't use it and am uncomfortable when Christians do it, been around pastors who cuss like no one else, I have confronted them to their face. But what I am saying is that we need to translate God's concepts in a way that they not only understand but it must hit them in the heart. Therefore: "I SUCK" hits more than "I am not any good".
