Day 12 My Soul is Anxious - Please help!

Day 12 of My 40 Day Journey

Readings of Psalm 12, 42, 72, 102, 132 Proverbs 12

Dear Lord, I really need you now. Arise with me and comfort me, bring me peace and go before me. My soul is in anguish, my hope is dim and I am lost. How can we overcome division and strife in our lives? We want peace with those we love. It starts with you,
Psalm 42:1 “As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”

Why does our thirst for God wane so much? By day 6 it was strong and brought me so joy but this weekend it has been too tired to seek. My soul wants rest and yet it is anxious. Lord, you are my trust. I will tell my heart to trust you, to remember how you have delivered me in the past.

42:5 “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me?

That is exactly what I need today, “Put your hope in God, for I will praise him my Savior and my God.”

Lord, answer this prayer for me today, convince my heart to hope in you. These verses are repeated again in this psalm, it is the chorus to the song.

42:7 “Deep calls to deep”, Yes, I need your depth of love to call me there, I want to go deep with you Lord.

Psalm 72 is a royal psalm by King Solomon, a prayer of what he wants in his earthly kingdom of Israel. , some believe that it is a “messianic psalm” referring to the final kingdom of Christ where He rules with righteousness.
Regardless of when it happens, it is a great place to live where righteousness and justice are the norm.

11 All kings will bow down to him and all nations will serve him. 12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.

13 He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. 14 He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
for precious is their blood in his sight.

Lord, we long for that place of peace, justice and prosperity. Our trust is not in politicians or religious leaders but our trust is in you. Bring righteousness to a corrupt world, government and even church. Bring righteousness to our home, to my parenting, to my marriage to my neighborhood.

Psalm 102:18 “Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.” Wow, I love this psalm. I want to focus on future generations too, may our life help other generations after us Lord.

Lord, I want Bailey and Micah to know you intimately, to seek you whole-heartily and to serve you unequivocally. Give them a thirst and hunger for you. (Pic on the left is Bailey at one week in our hands) May I never get in the way of your work in their lives, may I never frustrate them in a way that would hurt their walk with you. Give me grace to deal with them, give us wisdom to teach them and work in our family so that they have no other choice but to seek you.

Psalm 132 I love the psalmist heart for God, vs. 3 “ I will not enter my house or go to my bed – I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the Lord.” Lord, may I not eat or drink daily until you have found a home in my heart.

Proverbs 12 – “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge.” This proverb contains so much nuggets of wisdom again. “A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown.” AMEN

“He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgement”

“The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice”

Here is a convicting one for me, “A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.” Wow, this is a struggle, I used to be better at overlooking insulting words but recently, I have been willing to confront. Is that what this is about? Overcoming fear in confronting is good but being too sensitive, defensive is not. Lord help me be prudent, I repent of my impetuous behavior. Finally I love the last verse, “In the way of righteousness,
